Lake Ontelaunee was developed in 1926 to extend and improve the water supply of the City of Reading.  
The spillway section is 543.5 feet long between abutments and 48 feet wide at the base.  
Above the streambed the area of the completed lake is 1,082 acres, and the capacity is 3,580 million gallons.
